Efêmeros Viva, Viva Ephemera, Bolo Warhol's, 07/2017, São Paulo/Brasil
VIVA Projects invited pastry chef Michel Schrer to bring to life Andy Warhol's A&P Surprise cake from his cookbook Wild Raspberries, published in 1959 together with interior decorator Suzie Frankfurt. The recipes, many of which feature intentional misspelling were Warhol and Frankfurt’s attempt to tease those oh-so-serious chefs who followed the pretentious and popular French cookbooks of the 1950s and many of which are impossible to complete. Scherer's response was a homage with a twist. The cake was a free interpretation of the original illustration – the challenge of translating a design into a three-dimensional form comes with the freedom to create new elements that are attuned to the spirit of the original work.
